Research File: Science and religion – Part 1 of 5

This programme is part of the series Research File
Portrait of Nicolas Copernicus (Wikicommons)

Dan Falk examines the relationship between science and religion. Just think of the fate of people like Copernicus and Galileo whose discoveries clashed with the biblical version of creation or Darwin’s ideas about evolution which still upset some Christians. How do scientists who are religious come to terms with, say, genetic engineering? And what about non-Western cultures, where science and religion are not enemies?
