Despite being steadfast member states of the European Union, the relationship between the people of the Netherlands and its large and influential, eastern neighbour Germany, is strained. It is with this in mind that Radio Netherlands and Deutsche Welle have prepared two documentaries examining the long and ever-changing relationship between these two closely-related and yet philosophically different lands.
This week, Part 2: “The way forward: Friendship with Germany”. Radio Netherlands’ Maggie Ayre examines the efforts by the Dutch and German governments to forge a new era of friendship 50 years after the Second World War.
