Maggie Ayre hails from the west of Scotland and joined Radio Netherlands in 1992 after starting her radio career at BBC World Service. Together with Dheera Sujan she started the popular infotainment show ‘East of Edam’ which took an often irreverent look at global affairs and culture. She won bronze and silver medals at the New York Festivals for her documentaries on the links between the Netherlands and Scotland and on the origins of children’s nursery rhymes. Working in collaboration with radio colleagues in Ireland and Scotland she co-produced series about islands, borders, cities and language.
After leaving the Netherlands, in 1999 she settled in the UK where she lives and works in radio.
