New Netherland was a vast 17th century colony along the east coast of North America, ruled by the Dutch for sixty years. Part Three concerns its darkest hour. The charismatic, if tyrannical, governor Peter Stuyvesant, breathed new life into the colony. During his reign, the settlement of New Amsterdam on the island of Manhattan would evolve into the most multicultural city in the New World.
