David Swatling was a three-time winner of the Siegenthaler Excellence in Audio Award and a seven-time finalist at the New York Festivals.

David started working at Radio Netherlands as a newsreader in December 1985, six months after moving from New York to Amsterdam. Two years later, he began doing interviews and feature reports for the arts and culture magazine Images, as well as other programmes. In the early 90’s, he started producing full-time: first Mirror Images and later Aural Tapestry, chosen by World Radio TV Handbook as a Top Ten International Radio Show. He co-produced the popular documentary feature programme Vox Humana, as well as the series Basement Sessions and RadioBooks.

He was a three-time winner of the Siegenthaler Excellence in Audio Award from the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (Washington, D.C.), received prizes at the Guangdong Music Radio Festival (China) and Prix Marulic Festival (Croatia), and was a seven-time Finalist at the New York Festivals.

Since retirement in 2010, he published his first novel, Calvin’s Head, a 2015-Lambda Literary Award Finalist. He continues to live and write in Amsterdam.
