The programme is part of the Radio Netherlands’ Transcription Series “We made a hoe and went along”, produced in 1986.

The programme comes from Ghana at looks at how the slave trade began in the 17th century and the role that the Dutch played in expanding the trade inland. Some of these Africans were later recruited to serve in the Dutch East Indies colonial army.
