25 years ago, the Jordaan, Amsterdam’s most famous neighbourhood was badly run down and in danger of being demolished. But, as Simone Weimans and Robert Chesal discover, common sense saved the day, and the classic buildings and unique atmosphere were saved for the city to enjoy. We look at the typical Jordaan culture, music and history and as what the next 25 years has in store.
