The daring design of the new headquarters of China Central Television, the state media of the People’s Republic, is controversial for both architectural as well as political reasons. The building was designed by star architect Rem Koolhaas from the Netherlands, winner of the 2000 Pritzker Architecture Prize, and Ole Scheeren of OMA, the Office for Municipal Architecture, and it was completed on the eve of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
