Marijke van der Meer garnered a number of awards for her documentaries. She had a special interest in the arts, history and Asia.
Marijke van der Meer was born to Dutch parents in Canada and grew up in Washington, D.C. She studied French and German and art history at Georgetown University, the Sorbonne and the University of Munich. Marijke worked at Radio Netherlands for thirty years as a translator, news reader, reporter and producer of programmes on a wide range of subjects, with a special interest in the arts, history and Asia. A number of her documentaries received awards from, among others, the New York Festivals and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
