The first of three programmes produced in association with Radio Netherlands, BBC Scotland and RTE Ireland. The people who live on the man-made polders in the north of Amsterdam are sometimes called the new pioneers, having come from all corners of the Netherlands to start new lives on these stretches of land reclaimed from the sea. Maggie Ayre asks what it’s like to live on the seabed and how the people who live on what used to be islands and are now mainland communities feel about this new land.
