Liesbeth de Bakker

Liesbeth de Bakker loved to take listeners by the hand and lead them through the wondrous world of science in The Research File. Being Dutch, she particularly took pride in sharing ‘Dutch science and medicine’ with an international audience, such as the fact that at the turn of the century home birth was still a common practice in the Netherlands or showcasing what Dutch scientists and world travelers had brought to today’s world.

Liesbeth worked for Radio Netherlands from 1995 to 2006. On occasion she also ventured out into the world of news and current affairs. Her personal high point was “Baking Holy Bread“, a history of Catholicism in Europe, which featured her father’s career.

Liesbeth left Radio Netherlands to become a science communications lecturer at Utrecht University in 2006.
