Laura Durnford examines the life and work of Aletta Jacobs (1854-1929). She was born in the middle of the 19th century, became the first woman to go the university (in 1871!), became a medical doctor and a leading Dutch feminist and suffragette. The programme is based on excerpts from her memoires.
