Dheera Sujan’s guests are both Irish, both are writers and both had alcoholic fathers. Frank McCourt, at 66, gained international literary stardom with his Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Angela’s Ashes”.
Fergal Keane, for many years one of the BBC’s foreign correspondents, wrote several books on his reporting experiences. The one that drew the most attention was “Letter to Daniel”, the title of a report he filed when his son was born. It is a collective of subjective pieces about how fatherhood has affected the way he sees deprived and traumatised children.
