Weapons of mass destruction: Part 2 of 2

Emblems of weapons of mass destruction

50 years ago, few people understood the threat posed by a nuclear arms race. The destructive power of these new weapons was simply beyond the comprehension of most people. But one man – the British Philosopher Bertrand Russell – clearly saw the dangers for humanity , and he decided to warn the world.

The end of the Cold War seemed to diminish the nuclear threat. But as both rogue states and established nuclear powers such as the United States continue to develop new weapons – who will raise the alarm?
