The silver screen, a golden past: “Sequels, prequels and video tapes”, Part 6 – From the 80’s into the future

By the 1980’s, new generations were growing up in a world where the moving image had become so proliferous that it was more dominant than the written word, taking on and new forms beyond the movie screen, television, video and computers. Young movie directors were learning the trade at film schools where they studied the masters, quoted them and incorporated their works into a medium that has shaped our common dreams and come to colonise our subconscious.
