The use of condoms not only helps to prevent unplanned pregnancy but it can also prevent sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea, herpes and HIV. Yet condoms have a reputation for being unreliable and not very sexy. We speak with experts about the true benefits of condom use. This simple sheath has many names—Johnny, rubber, prophylactic, love glove—and comes in many creative varieties, as anyone visiting the Amsterdam Condomerie will discover.
