150th anniversary of the Delft University of Technology

This year the Technical University of Delft celebrates its 150th anniversary. The TU Delft was officially founded in 1842 by King William II as a Royal Academy, with the primary purpose of training civil servants for work in the Dutch East Indies. It expanded its curriculum over time, and today the TU Delft is ranked among the top 15 engineering and technology universities in the world.
