In 1993, Eritrea became Africa’s newest independent country, after a bitter war against Ethiopia in which over 100,000 people died. The hostilities lasted 30 years, longer than any other conflict on the African continent at that time. In this programme, we look at the early efforts to reconstruct a war-torn land and build a new country.
