Andy Clark takes to the streets in his running shoes to train as he builds up to try and complete his first-ever marathon. He seeks advice on survival techniques from veterans of the 42-kilometre race, as he discovers the hardships that have to be endured by those masochistic enough to do this sort of thing for enjoyment.
Hear Andy panting and puffing his way through the grueling training period—constant running for at least three months—as he attempts to claw his way to fitness. He also tries to explain the psychology behind the marathon and explain it continues to hold such a fascination for so many ordinary people around the world.
