Acclaimed by Newsweek magazine as one of the top ten best works of fiction of the first decade of this century, “The People’s Act of Love” is a novel by British writer and journalist James Meek. Published in 2005, it is set in Siberia during the Russian civil war and is inspired in part by Meek’s years close to the conflicts in Ukraine, Russia and Chechnya.
