Gore Vidal on the movies

Gore Vidal (© Marc Coggins)

in this unedited interview, Dheera Sujan talks at length to American writer Gore Vidal (1925-2012) about movies (he wrote 20 screenplays and many more for television), their impact, the changes in Hollywood films, from the studios’ star system to technology becoming the stars of films. He also discusses likes and dislikes in directors, actors, his ideas about archetypes and the absence (in many contemporary films) of witty intelligent dialogue in favour of visual effects, such as big explosions, accidents and robots.
