Canadian writer and broadcaster Irshad Manji has written “The Trouble with Islam today”. She is a critic of the literalist view of Islam and believes that Muslim moderates should speak out against the violations against women and other oppressive manifestations of the extremists of the religion. She’s open about her lesbian identity and yet maintains that she is a good Muslim.
